“I didn’t even pay attention to music,I was so focused on myself and my senses that I let everything go in this moment.”

Participant, Free First Saturday

Something You Can Feel was such an incredible experience to lead! Throughout the day, I guided over 150 guests as they listened to music and let the sounds move their paintbrushes while painting blindfolded. Watching everyone embrace pure, uninhibited creativity was so inspiring. Each 20-minute session, starting on the hour and half-hour, was a chance to explore how music can guide our artistic expression in unexpected ways. We took a break from 12 noon to 1 pm, but the energy and excitement carried on all day. It was truly a joy to see so many people connect with their creativity in such a unique and powerful way!

What an inspiring day it was at the Walker during Free First Saturday! Creativity came alive as visitors explored what sparks their imagination—vibrant colors, melodic tunes, and the world around us. The exhibition Stanley Whitney: How High the Moon showcased the dynamic connection between music and painting, brought to life by the soulful sounds of a live saxophonist.

The day featured free gallery admission from 10 am to 5 pm and engaging drop-in art activities until 3 pm, creating opportunities for families and individuals to connect with art in meaningful ways. It was truly a celebration of creativity and inspiration!
