Courageous heARTS is a nonprofit art studio in south Minneapolis that centers youth as leaders and serves the whole community. Their mission was to illuminate youth as leaders and inspire creativity, courage, and collaboration throughout the whole community. They consider their studio a safety net for creativity and place value on the process of creating rather than the product.

I was contracted to teach youth from ages 8-17 for a 5-week residency at the studio. Unfortunately, Courageous heARTS didn’t survive the pandemic as they are located where George Floyd was murdered and ground zero to a lot of the uprising that was taking place during this time.
