About Eve Gene: In human genetics, the Mitochondrial Eve is the matrilineal most recent common ancestor of all living humans. It is genetic and fossil evidence that suggests that the earliest modern human species – otherwise known as Homo Sapiens – evolved from Africa over 200,000 years ago. mall bean-shaped structures in our cells that convert food into energy used for powering bodily functions and biochemical reactions that keep us alive (MitoQ, 2019). It is important to note that mitochondria have their own DNA that carries this particular ‘Eve’/L0 genome. This is more commonly termed mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). Thus nicknamed the ‘Eve Gene’ as it is an inherited gene, paying reference to the story of creation in Genesis, the first chapter of the Bible. The story of creation describes Eve as first woman on earth, therefore in essence she would be the mother to us all. However, this has not been scientifically proven therefore, the term is used only to refer to the most recent female genetic ancestor of a species. ~ Shades of Noir.com

I was inspired to make this piece by @jasminenicholeofficial Instagram post featuring herself and her baby. I was so taken by this picture that I was inspired to make this into an art piece. The quote she put in her caption led to me calling this piece "Eve Gene".

Poem by me:

“The love of my life, I gave you life I sacrificed my form, to mold you Created you in love or lust Desired, unaware, or disdain You are here, I gave you life Supplied my essence, through generations…millennia for you and yours to be who you are… I, mother, Eve, transcend time, countries, continents, islands, languages, cultures, traditions, racism, and all ways of your present world. I am in you, I am in all of you The love of my life, I gave you life.”
